38. Drew Barrymore Then

Anyone who saw Mad Love when it first came out in 1995 surely wanted to be Chris O’Donnell’s wife, Drew Barrymore. It’s easy to understand why. In the ’90s, Barrymore was a mix of everything.

She was super sweet yet sort of grunge. She was clumsy and naïve yet clever and seductive. The star even made a lisp seem like the sexiest thing to have! There’s no doubt that Drew Barrymore was one impressive lady in the ’90s.

36. Jennifer Aniston Then

Throughout the ’90s, Jennifer Aniston was the nation’s sitcom sweetheart. Her cult classic “Rachel” hairdo on Friends encouraged millions of women to layer their hair, although let’s be honest, most of us failed to pull it off.

33. Sharon Stone Then

There’s no doubt that Sharon Stone was one fierce beauty (still is!). She was intelligent and bold enough to take on the role of Catherine Tramell in Basic Instinct, and her performance didn’t go unnoticed. It made her a household name, and the fantasy of many men and women at the time.

Since her 90s heyday, Jennifer Connelly has involved herself with so many things other than acting. She was named Amnesty International Ambassador in 2005 for Human Rights Education, appearing in an advertisement emphasizing the global need for drinking water.

Liv Tyler’s breakthrough film was Stealing Beauty (1996), where she starred as Lucy Harmon, a helpless romantic teenager who flies to Tuscany, Italy, where she intends on losing her virginity. The movie got mixed reviews, but Tyler’s performance stood out in the best way possible.

Today, Liv Tyler is doing a lot more than acting. She’s an active supporter of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and was appointed as a Goodwill Ambassador for the United States.

Carmen Electra was that 90’s chick you really wanted to hang out with, but without your boyfriend around (because she’d steal him of course). She began her career as a dancer in 1990 but then moved on to singing in 1993 when she released her debut album (it would be her only one).

She moved to LA in the mid-’90s, where she began her career as a Playboy model. In 1997, she got her first big acting gig as Lani in Baywatch. The part lasted a year and helped establish her position as an official sex symbol.

Recently, Carmen Electra was seen playing the role of Tia in the show Alone Together. But overall, she’s been mostly away from the entertainment industry. It looks like she’s kicking back from her acting career for now.

Ireland then decided to form the Kathy Ireland Worldwide, a brand marketing firm. At the advice of one of her friends, Warren Buffett, Kathy began selling home furniture. “Fashion and apparel are constantly changing, but in home it’s more consistent,” Buffett explained.

As for Kathy Ireland Worldwide, the latest news has been that actress Vanessa Williams has signed a management partnership agreement with them. This entrepreneur seems to be on good terms with everyone in the business.

26. Cameron Diaz Then

While still in high school, Cameron Diaz signed a modeling contract with Elite Model Management. She was only 16. And by the early ’90s, she was on the cover of numerous magazines including Seventeen magazine, as well the fact of several Coca Cola commercials.

In the mid-’90s, she took on acting after she landed the role of a jazz singer named Tina Carlyle in the movie The Mask. The film received great reviews and catapulted Diaz into the spotlight, establishing her status as Hollywood’s newest beauty.

In 2020, Cameron Diaz announced she was retiring from acting, a decision she said, that left her at peace. ” “I got a peace in my soul,” she said during an interview with Gwyneth Paltrow for her show, Goop, “Because I was finally taking care of myself.”

The latest news about this ’90s icon is that she was arrested recently outside the white house during a voting rights protest. We got to hand it to her, she’s one fierce lady. Before her arrest, she tweeted: “I’m going to risk arrest today because, in the last year, there have been 425 bills that have been introduced to restrict voting rights.”

24. Michelle Pfeiffer Then

The ’90s were certainly Pfeiffer’s decade. She began earning $1 million per film and even opened her own boutique film production company, Via Rosa Productions. Among the man movies she starred in, one stood out. The independent drama, Love Field, released in 1992.

23. Faith Hill Then

Faith Hill released her debut album, Take Me as I Am in 1993. The sales were strong, and the crowd went wild for her single “Wild One.” She became the first female country singer in three decades to hold the number one position on the Billboard chart for three consecutive weeks!

Her cover of Piece of My Heart also did extremely well and flew to the top of the country charts in 1994. Her debut album sold a total of 3 million copies. In the spring of 1996, she toured with country singer Tim McGraw, and it didn’t take long for the two to fall in love and start a family.

As of today, Hill is signed with Sony Music Nashville, along with her partner Tim McGraw. The power couple released a joint album titled The Rest of Our Life, which was first performed at the opening of Country’s Music Hall of Fame and Museum.

22. Kim Basinger Then

Kim Basinger entered the ’90s with a bang. After the success of Batman where she starred as Vicki Kale, she was given many new and exciting offers, including a part alongside Alec Baldwin in the film The Marrying Man.

In 1994, she joined Baldwin for another movie, this time, the thriller The Getaway, where she played the wife of a former criminal. She later worked with director Robert Altman for the comedy Prêt-à-Porter, in which she played a dim-witted cable reporter.

Kim Basinger Now

Basinger’s most recent project is her role of Elena Lincoln in the film Fifty Shades Darker, the sequel of Fifty Shades of Grey. She starred as Christian Grey’s business partner and former lover. Her co-star, Dakota Johnson, described Basinger as “one of the greatest people to work with.”

21. Halle Berry Then

Berry moved to New York in 1989 to pursue her dreams of becoming an actress. She spent months living on the streets because she couldn’t afford to pay rent. Finally, she got her break in the short-lived TV show, Living Dolls.

After the show ended, Berry moved to L.A., where she landed her breakthrough role playing a biracial slave in the television adaptation of the book Queen: The Story of an American Family, written by Alex Hale.

At the start of 2019, Halle Berry became the executive producer BET’s TV series, Boomerang, based on the movie in which she starred. A year later, in 2020, she tried her hand at directing for the very first time!

She directed the film Bruised, in which she starred as an MMA fighter by the name Jackie Justice, who suddenly reconnects with her long-lost son. The movie premiered in the fall of 2020 and garnered positive reviews.

20. Heidi Klum Then

Born and raised in West Germany, Heidi Klum enrolled in a national modeling contest, “Model 92” and out of 250,000 contestants, she was voted the winner. Klum was offered a modeling contract by Thomas Zeumer, Metropolitan Models’ CEO.

Klum then began appearing on different talk shows, including the German late-night show called the Gottschalk Late Night Show with host Thomas Gottschalk. After graduating from school, she decided to pursue modeling full-time.

Klum is now married to Tokyo Hotel’s guitarist Tom Kaulitz. The two began dating in 2018, and finally, after a lot of hiding and sneaky behavior, she announced on her social media accounts that the two were engaged and happier than ever.

19. Stacey Dash Then

Stacey Dash’s major breakthrough appearance was in the late ’80s, where she was cast in the comedy Moving (1988). She also landed roles in the films Renaissance Man and Mo’ Money. She kept steadily working all through the ’90s as well.

In 1995, she received her huge break with the cult teen classic Clueless, where she starred alongside Alicia Silverstone as her character’s best friend, Dionne Davenport. Afterward, the movie spawned a TV spin-off of the same name, in which she starred again as Dionne.

Stacey Dash Now

Dash went on to marry Jeffrey Marty, but things got really ugly in 2019 when she was arrested in her apartment on a domestic battery charge. Dash pleaded not guilty, and the case was eventually dropped.

A year later, in the summer of 2020, Stacey Dash finally filed for divorce after realizing that they wouldn’t be able to meet each other halfway. In 2021, the actress went on The Dr. Oz Show where she opened up about her addiction to Vicodin. She’s been five years sober now!

18. Shannon Elizabeth Then

Shannon graduated high school in 1991 and straight away began pursuing a career in the business. She worked as a model for some time before beginning a career in film. Her breakthrough role was in 1999’s America Pie.

Hewitt’s rise to stardom began in the mid ’90s when she landed the lead role of Sarah Reeves Merrin on the popular Fox series Party of Five which ran from 1995-1999. Co-creator of the show, Amy Lippman, praised Hewitt.

One of the latest scandals surrounding Hurley, well not exactly Hurley but more her family, is that her nephew, Miley Hurley, was stabbed in the back by a group of criminals in south London. She said it was an “appalling time” for the family.

13. Salma Hayek Then

After landing a minor role in the 1993 movie Mi Vida Loca, Hayek was noticed by a director named Robert Rodriguez and his wife, Elizabeth Avellan. They gave Hayek a role with Antonio Banderas in their 1995 film Desperado.

Hayek followed that role with the movie From Dusk Till Dawn where she starred as a vampire queen and performed an erotic snake dance, a scene that established her status as a sex symbol in the industry.

Hayek has come a long way since her snake-dancing days. In 2014, she campaigned for women’s rights in Afghanistan, then followed her trip to Lebanon a year later, where she criticized the attitudes towards women there.

10. Tiffani Thiessen Then

Thiessen competed in beauty pageants throughout her childhood and was named Miss Junior America in 1987. The following year, she graced the cover of Teen magazine, after winning the magazine’s “Great Model Search.”

In 1989, Heather Graham acted in Gus Van Sant’s Drugstore Cowboy where she landed the role of Nadine, a young, drug-addicted accomplice of the two protagonists. Her outstanding acting earned her a nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

3. Neve Campbell Then

Neve was the “It Girl” in some of the ’90s most memorable cult classics. She spent half of the decade going wild on the hit series Party of Five, and the other half, bewitching all of America in The Craft.

Towards the end of the decade, Campbell knocked everyone’s socks off with her performance in 1996’s Scream. Director Wes Craven called her in to audition for the role of Sidney Prescott. He believed she could be both innocent but also strong enough to handle emotional conflicts.

Other than that, at the start of 2021, Neve took on the role of Mickey Haller’s ex-wife, Maggie McPherson, in Netflix’s TV adaptation of The Lincoln Lawyer. We’re glad to see Neve is still taking on serious and interesting roles.

2. Winona Ryder Then

At the start of the decade, Winona was viewed as a niche Edward Scissor Hands type of sexy. But by the end of the ’90s, she was everybody’s Girl, Interrupted. She proved that she could be both kooky weird and sexy, and both mental weird and sexy.

For her role in Girl Interrupted where starred alongside Angelina Jolie, one critic stated that Ryder was the reason to see the film in the first place. He said: “Ryder shows again her skill at projecting mental states; one of her gifts is to let us know exactly what she’s thinking, without seeming to.”

Winona continued to shine over the years, landing roles in several dramas. The most recent one is Netflix’s critically acclaimed series Stranger Things where she plays a single mom who lost her son under mysterious circumstances.

She kicked off the decade strong by being Playboy’s Playmate of February 1990. For the rest of the ’90s, Anderson dominated the decade by appearing on numerous talk shows and showing her face in all the most luxurious events in Hollywood.

The latest news about this ’90s icon is that she has married her bodyguard, a man named Dan Hayhurst. Anderson had previously married “bad boys” like Tommy Lee and Kid Rock. But today, she’s in the arms of a caring family man.

She told her fans that she has spent the past year at home, renovating her place as well as Dan’s: “I’ve just been home for the last year and a half renovating,” she shared. “And now it’s just gorgeous.
